The Republican electorate is fired up by a right-wing populist with controversial positions on border security, a man who has never held elective office. Clinton has staved off a challenge from an anti-establishment populist with broad appeal to the disenfranchised and those on the left. A third-party candidate is becoming an attractive alternative for millions and having a noticeable presence in national polls. Meanwhile, here in New York, Gov. Cuomo, who is widely perceived to have national ambitions, is watching the election with great interest.

    The year? 1992.

Silver Responds To Paladino ‘Criminal’ Slam

05 October 2010, 2:58 pm by Nick Reisman  Speaking at a Crain’s New York Business function earlier today, Republican gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino called Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, D-Manhattan, a criminal and warned legislators “don’t mess with me.” It’s a long line in a list of jabs Paladino, a wealthy Buffalo businessman, has taken at Silver, the powerful Assembly speaker whose held the post since 1994. Paladino has suggested he would take Silver up to an upstate prison and allow townspeople along the way to “beat up on him a little.” Silver this afternoon issued a brief statement saying he won’t get bogged down “into the gutter with Mr. Paladino.” “It is unfortunate that New Yorkers are being forced to endure the insulting and baseless hectoring of the Republican candidate for governor,” Silver said. “I will not get into the gutter with Mr. Paladino, nor dignify his comments with a response. Rather, I will let New Yorkers judge his fitness for public office.” _______________________________________________

  • Sheldon Silver hid $700K under wife’s name, financial advisor says/New York Post

    The noose is tightening.

The Buffalo News won’t republish this story (below) because it involves former publisher Stan Lipsey’s BFF -Jordan Levy, an opportunist who washed money and invested funds for lucrative profits for Sheldon Silver in return for a “nice” quid pro quo.

Levy said he was not involved in any criminal acts when his name was first connected to Silver but now we learn that he made a deal with the Feds to avoid prosecution and chirped like a bird about his bad acts at Silver’s trial.

The encore ought to be the investigation of Andrew Cuomo and the present New York State Comptroller, Tom DiNapoli, a former Assemblyman and ‘lackey’ of Sheldon Silver, who Silver sponsored for the Comptroller office when Alan Hevesi (another Silver lackey) was indicted for taking a bribe from Steve Rattner.  Cuomo fixed a deal giving Rattner immunity from prosecution after he took the ‘Fifth’…. 55 times! The multi-millionaire ‘briber’ was given immunity to testify against the ‘bribee’. (All pigs are equal but some pigs are more equal than others.)  Read more ›
