BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Something new is coming to the Buffalo River for the first time in a century.
The Buffalo Scholastic Rowing Association broke ground for a new boat house near Ohio Street Tuesday. Team captains from Bishop-Timon, Buffalo Seminary, and Canisius High School dug-in with shovels painted to match their teams’ oars. The memorial boathouse will be named after Carl Paladino’s son, Patrick, who was a graduate of Bishop-Timon.
“It’s obviously a very special event. My son would be very proud of this today and I’m sure he is. The ability to do something to help a group like this that’s doing so much for the youth of our community and providing this kind of experience is just great,” Carl Paladino said.
The $1.4 million project will build a five-bay boathouse for the rowing group.
